How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide the right dose for you, based on your health and where the injection is given.

Method

Ampres is given as an injection near specific nerves to create local numbness.

Important

The maximum daily dose for healthy adults should not be more than 800 mg.

  • Lowered blood pressure

RARE
  • Lowered blood pressure (with high doses)
  • High blood pressure
  • Slow heart rate
  • Tremors
  • Convulsions
  • Tongue numbness
  • Hearing difficulties
  • Visual disturbances
  • Speech disturbances
  • Unconsciousness
  • Nerve damage (neuropathy)
  • Drowsiness that can lead to unconsciousness and breathing stops
  • Loss of bladder and bowel control
  • Loss of sensation in the perineum and sexual function
  • Permanent nerve damage
  • Double vision
  • Irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)
  • Impaired heart muscle function
  • Cardiac arrest
  • Shortness of breath
  • Wheezing and difficulty breathing

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Ampres if you are allergic to chloroprocaine hydrochloride, other similar local anesthetics, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had a severe reaction to an anesthetic before.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a skin infection or any other signs of inflammation at or near where the injection will be given.
  • Do not use Ampres if you have conditions that make regional anesthesia unsuitable.
  • Tell your doctor if you have reduced blood volume (hypovolemia).

  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have very low blood pressure.
  • Tell your doctor if you have blood clotting problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have fluid in your lungs.
  • Tell your doctor if you have sepsis (blood poisoning).
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, such as heart block or irregular heartbeat.
  • Tell your doctor if your general health is weakened.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy, tell your doctor. Ampres is generally not recommended during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience a severe allergic reaction, such as sudden itching, skin redness, swelling, sneezing, vomiting, dizziness, heavy sweating, fever, or shortness of breath.
