How to Use

Dosage

The dose is based on your body weight and individual needs, typically 3-10 mg per kg of body weight per day.

Method

This medicine is given as a drip into a vein (intravenous infusion) after being mixed and diluted in a glucose solution by a doctor or nurse.

Important

The typical maximum daily dose is 10 mg per kg of body weight, depending on the infection being treated.

  • Heart attacks and changes in heart rhythm
  • Kidney failure and kidney problems, with signs like tiredness and reduced urine output
  • Severe swelling around the lips, eyes, or tongue
  • Muscle damage
  • Bone and joint pain

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to amphotericin B, soy, or peanuts, as it contains soy oil.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems or are taking other medicines that affect the kidneys, as this medicine can harm your kidneys.
  • Your doctor will do blood tests to check your kidney and liver function and to ensure your body is producing enough blood cells.
  • You may experience fever or chills during the infusion; your doctor might slow down the drip or give you other medicines to prevent or treat these reactions.
  • If you have low blood potassium levels, your doctor may prescribe potassium supplements during your treatment.
