How to Use

Dosage

For adults and children weighing 40 kg or more, the recommended dose is 1 tablet 3 times a day.

Method

Take your medicine with food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. The tablet can be split along the score line to make it easier to swallow; take both halves at the same time.

Important

Do not take more than 3 tablets in one day. Ensure at least four hours between doses and do not take two doses within the same hour. Do not use for more than two consecutive weeks.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Diarrhea (in adults and children)
  • Thrush (yeast infection in the vagina, mouth, or skin folds)
  • Nausea (feeling sick), especially with high doses
  • Vomiting
RARE
  • Rash with blisters that look like small targets (erythema multiforme)
  • Problems with blood clotting (blood takes longer to clot)
  • Low white blood cell count
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis) or yellowing of the skin/eyes (jaundice)
  • Inflammation in kidney tubules
  • Black hairy tongue
  • Low red blood cell count (hemolytic anemia)
  • Crystals in the urine causing acute kidney injury

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, penicillin, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have previously had a severe allergic reaction to another antibiotic (e.g., rash, swelling of the face or throat).
  • Do not use if you have had liver problems or jaundice (yellow skin) with previous antibiotic treatment.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have glandular fever.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease.

  • Talk to your doctor if you do not urinate regularly.
  • Stop taking the medicine and contact a doctor immediately if you develop a severe allergic reaction (such as rash, swelling, difficulty breathing, fainting, or chest pain).
  • Contact a doctor immediately if you experience severe and persistent stomach pain, as this could be a sign of acute pancreatitis.
  • Contact a doctor immediately if you experience repeated vomiting, stomach pain, fatigue, diarrhea, and low blood pressure, as these could be signs of DIES syndrome.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Increase the dosing interval in severe renal impairment. May potentiate the effect of methotrexate. (updated 6.11.2023)
