How to Use

Dosage

Children under 40 kg: 40-90 mg per kg of body weight per day, divided into 2 or 3 doses. Adults and children over 40 kg: 250-500 mg three times a day, or 750 mg-1 g every 12 hours.

Method

You can swallow the tablets whole with water, or dissolve them in a small amount of water and then drink. Tablets can also be broken to make them easier to swallow.

Important

Children under 40 kg: 100 mg per kg of body weight per day. Adults and children over 40 kg: 6 g per day.

  • Yeast infection (in vagina, mouth, or skin folds)
  • Kidney problems
  • Seizures (convulsions)
  • Dizziness
  • Hyperactivity
  • Teeth discoloration (usually goes away with brushing, reported in children)
  • Tongue discoloration (yellow, brown, black) or hairy tongue
  • Anemia (symptoms: fatigue, headache, shortness of breath, dizziness, pale skin, yellowing of skin and whites of eyes)
  • Low white blood cell count
  • Low blood clotting cell count
  • Longer than normal blood clotting time (may cause nosebleeds or bleeding from cuts)
  • Crystals in urine (can cause acute kidney injury)
  • Blistering rash (circular with a scab in the middle or like a string of pearls)
  • Inflammation of the membranes around the brain and spinal cord (aseptic meningitis)
  • Chest pain (related to allergic reactions, Kounis syndrome)
  • Drug-induced gut inflammation (DIES, symptoms: repeated vomiting, stomach pain, tiredness, diarrhea, low blood pressure)
  • Severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling of face, lips, tongue or body, difficulty breathing)
  • Rash or small flat red spots under the skin, bruises (may include joint pain and kidney problems)
  • Delayed allergic reaction (rash, fever, joint pain, swollen lymph nodes)
  • Erythema multiforme (itchy purplish-red patches on skin, hive-like swollen areas, soreness in mouth, eyes, genitals, fever, tiredness)
  • Other severe skin reactions (skin color changes, lumps under skin, blisters, pus-filled spots, peeling skin, redness, pain, itching, flaking, fever, headache, body aches)
  • Flu-like symptoms (rash, fever, swollen lymph nodes, abnormal blood tests)
  • Fever, chills, sore throat, other signs of infection, or easy bruising (may indicate blood cell problems)
  • Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction (fever, chills, headache, muscle pain, rash during Lyme disease treatment)
  • Inflammation of the large bowel (colitis) (diarrhea, sometimes bloody, pain, fever)
  • Severe liver effects (severe diarrhea with bleeding, blisters, redness or bruises on skin, dark urine, pale stools, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice))

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to amoxicillin, penicillin, or any other ingredients in this medicine, or if you have had an allergic reaction to any other antibiotic (e.g., rash, swelling of face or throat).
  • Tell your doctor if you have glandular fever (mononucleosis), kidney problems, or if you are not urinating regularly.
  • Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are having urine (for glucose) or blood tests (for liver function), or estriol tests during pregnancy, as Amoxicillin Sandoz can affect the results.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines you are taking, especially allopurinol (for gout), probenecid (for gout), blood thinners (like warfarin), other antibiotics (like tetracycline), or methotrexate (for cancer or psoriasis).
  • If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
