How to Use

Dosage

Dosages vary by age and weight. For adults and children weighing 40 kg or more, a typical dose is 250-500 mg three times a day or 750 mg - 1 g every 12 hours.

Method

Swallow tablets whole with water, dissolve them in water and drink, or break them to aid swallowing.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is 100 mg per kg of body weight (for children under 40 kg) or 6 grams (for adults and children 40 kg or more).

  • Vomiting
  • Severe allergic reactions, such as itching, rash, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing.
  • Small red spots under the skin, bruising, joint pain, or kidney problems.
  • Delayed allergic reactions, including rash, fever, joint pain, and swollen lymph nodes.
  • Erythema multiforme (a skin reaction with itchy reddish-purple patches, blisters, fever, and fatigue).
  • Other severe skin reactions, such as skin discoloration, blisters, peeling skin, redness, pain, and itching.
  • Fever, chills, sore throat, or easy bruising, which may indicate blood cell problems.
  • Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction (symptoms like fever, chills, headache, muscle pain, and rash during Lyme disease treatment).
  • Colitis (inflammation of the bowel) with diarrhea (sometimes bloody), abdominal pain, and fever.
  • Severe liver effects, including diarrhea with bleeding, skin blisters, dark urine, pale stools, or yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice).
  • Yeast infections (e.g., in the vagina, mouth, or skin folds).
  • Kidney problems.
  • Seizures.
  • Dizziness.
  • Hyperactivity.
  • Crystalluria (cloudy urine, difficulty or pain when urinating).
  • Tooth discoloration (usually in children), which fades with brushing.
  • Tongue discoloration (yellow, brown, or black) or hairy tongue.
  • Anemia (fatigue, headache, shortness of breath, dizziness, paleness, or yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes).
  • Low white blood cell count.
  • Low platelet count.
  • Prolonged blood clotting time (easy bruising or bleeding).
  • Blistering rash forming circles with a scab in the center.
  • Chest pain with an allergic reaction (Kounis syndrome).
  • Drug-induced enterocolitis syndrome (DIES): repeated vomiting, abdominal pain, severe fatigue, diarrhea, and low blood pressure.
  • Meningitis (inflammation of the membranes around the brain and spinal cord).
  • Mild itchy rash (round, pink patches, hive-like swollen areas).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to amoxicillin, penicillin, or other ingredients in this medicine, or if you have had an allergic reaction to antibiotics.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have glandular fever, kidney problems, or irregular urination.
  • Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking this medicine before any blood or urine tests, as it can affect test results.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience side effects such as allergic reactions, dizziness, or seizures that may affect your ability to drive.
