How to Use

Dosage

Take 1 tablet three times a day (for 500 mg/125 mg strength).

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water during a meal.

Important

Do not take more than 3 tablets in one day, and do not take two doses within 4 hours. Do not use for more than 2 weeks without consulting a doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Diarrhea
  • Thrush (a yeast infection in the vagina, mouth, or skin folds)
  • Nausea (feeling sick), especially with high doses. Take the medicine with food if this happens.
  • Vomiting (being sick)
RARE
  • Skin rash and itching
  • Itchy, raised rash (hives)
  • Increase in liver enzymes (substances produced by the liver)
  • Indigestion
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Rash with blisters that look like small targets (dark spots surrounded by a paler area, with a dark ring around the edge)
  • Low number of platelets (blood cells that help blood clot)
  • Low number of white blood cells
  • Inflammation of blood vessels (vasculitis), which may appear as red or purple raised spots on the skin.
  • Fever, joint pain, swollen glands in the neck, armpits, or groin.
  • Swelling, sometimes of the face or mouth, causing breathing difficulties (angioedema).
  • Fainting
  • Chest pain with an allergic reaction, which could be a sign of a heart attack caused by allergy.
  • Inflammation of the large intestine, causing severe watery diarrhea, usually with blood and mucus, stomach pain, and/or fever.
  • Severe and ongoing stomach pain, which could be a sign of acute inflammation of the pancreas.
  • Drug-induced enterocolitis syndrome (DIES), mainly in children, with repeated vomiting (1-4 hours after taking the medicine), stomach pain, extreme tiredness, diarrhea, and low blood pressure.
  • Crystals in the urine that can lead to sudden kidney damage.
  • Inflammation of the membranes around the brain and spinal cord (aseptic meningitis).
  • Severe skin reactions including widespread rash with blisters, peeling skin, red and scaly patches, or flu-like symptoms with rash and swollen glands (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, DRESS).
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis).
  • Yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes caused by increased bilirubin in the blood (jaundice).
  • Inflammation of the kidney tubules.
  • Blood taking longer to clot.
  • Hyperactivity.
  • Convulsions (seizures), especially in people taking high doses or with kidney problems.
  • Black 'hairy' tongue.
  • Tooth discoloration (in children), usually removable by brushing.
  • Severe decrease in white blood cells.
  • Low number of red blood cells (hemolytic anemia).
  • Overgrowth of bacteria that are resistant to the medicine.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, penicillin, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor immediately if you get a severe allergic reaction like a rash, swelling of the face or neck, or difficulty breathing.
  • Do not use if you have had liver problems or yellowing of the skin (jaundice) when using an antibiotic before.
  • Talk to your doctor before using if you have glandular fever, liver or kidney problems, or if you do not urinate regularly.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse you are taking Amorion Comp if you have blood or urine tests, as it can affect the results.

  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, especially allopurinol (for gout), probenecid (for gout), blood thinners like warfarin, and methotrexate (for cancer or severe skin conditions).
  • If you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
  • This medicine can cause side effects that might make you unsafe to drive or use machines. Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel unwell.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Increase the dosing interval in severe renal impairment. May potentiate the effect of methotrexate. (updated 6.11.2023)
