Amloratio tablets contain amlodipine, which belongs to a group of medicines called calcium channel blockers, and is used to treat high blood pressure and chest pain (angina).

How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is one 5mg tablet once a day; Your doctor may increase the dose to two 5mg tablets (10mg) once a day.

Method

Take this medicine with a glass of water, either before or after food. Do not take with grapefruit juice.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 10mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, dizziness, sleepiness (especially at the beginning of treatment)
  • Palpitations (feeling your heartbeat), flushing
  • Stomach pain, feeling sick
  • Tiredness, weakness
  • Visual disturbances, double vision
  • Muscle cramps
  • Swollen ankles
RARE
  • Confusion

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Amloratio if you are allergic to amlodipine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, or to other calcium channel blockers. An allergic reaction may include itching, skin redness, or difficulty breathing.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking Amloratio if you have recently had a heart attack, heart failure, very high blood pressure (hypertensive crisis), liver disease, or if you are older and your dose needs to be increased.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Significant adverse effects include ankle oedema and orthostatic hypotension. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 17.2.2025)
