How to Use

Dosage

One tablet daily.

Method

Take the tablet with a glass of water, preferably at the same time each morning, with or without food. Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice.

Important

Do not exceed the prescribed dose (one tablet per day).

Possible Side Effects

  • Low blood potassium levels

RARE
  • Severely reduced urine output (kidney problems)
  • Spontaneous bleeding
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Liver problems
  • Sudden wheezing, chest pain, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Swelling of eyelids, face, or lips
  • Swelling of tongue and throat causing severe breathing difficulties
  • Severe skin reactions including severe rash, hives, redness, itching, blistering, peeling, or swelling of the skin (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Heart attack
  • Inflammation of the pancreas, causing severe abdominal and back pain with general unwellness
  • Weakness, bruising, fever, and frequent infections

  • Acute respiratory distress (severe shortness of breath, fever, weakness, confusion)

  • Gum swelling
  • Abdominal swelling (gastritis)
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Jaundice (yellow skin)
  • Elevated liver enzymes (may affect lab results)
  • Increased muscle tension
  • Blood vessel inflammation (often with skin rash)
  • Photosensitivity (increased sensitivity to light)
  • Conditions with stiffness, tremors, and/or movement disorders
  • Fever, sore throat or mouth ulcers, frequent infections (low white blood cells)
  • Pale skin, fatigue, shortness of breath, dark urine (hemolytic anemia)
  • Confusion, fatigue, muscle twitching, muscle cramps, fast breathing (hypochloremic alkalosis)
  • Severe upper abdominal pain (pancreatitis)
  • Intestinal swelling with symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Breathing difficulties with fever, cough, wheezing, shortness of breath (e.g., lung edema, pneumonia)
  • Facial rash, joint pain, muscle disorders, fever (lupus erythematosus)
  • Inflammation of blood vessels with rash, purplish-red spots, fever (vasculitis)
  • Severe skin disease with rash, red skin, blisters on lips, eyes or mouth, peeling skin, fever (toxic epidermal necrolysis)
  • Changes in kidney function blood tests, increased potassium in blood, low red blood cell count
  • Abnormal red blood cell test
  • Low levels of certain white blood cells and platelets
  • Increased creatinine in blood
  • Abnormal liver function tests
  • Inflammation of blood vessels
  • Weakness, bruising, and frequent infections (aplastic anemia)
  • Decreased vision or eye pain due to high pressure (fluid buildup in the eye, acute angle-closure glaucoma)
  • Blistering rash on the skin

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are more than 3 months pregnant. Not recommended in early pregnancy.
  • Do not take if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver or kidney problems, or if you cannot produce urine.
  • Do not take if your blood potassium or sodium levels are too low, or calcium levels are too high.
  • If you experience decreased vision or eye pain, seek immediate medical attention.

  • This medicine can increase your risk of skin or lip cancer. Protect your skin from sun and tell your doctor about any new skin changes.
  • If you develop severe shortness of breath after taking this medicine, seek immediate medical help.
  • Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
