Amlodipin/Valsartan Stada

This medicine contains two ingredients, amlodipine and valsartan, which work together to lower high blood pressure in adults whose blood pressure is not well controlled by either medicine alone.

How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one tablet once a day.

Method

Take your tablet with a glass of water at the same time each day, with or without food. Do not take with grapefruit or grapefruit juice.

Important

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor may adjust your dose based on your response.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Stuffy nose, sore throat, and difficulty swallowing
  • Headache
  • Swelling of arms, hands, legs, ankles, or feet
  • Tiredness
  • Weakness
  • Flushing and warmth in the face and/or neck
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, trouble breathing, very low blood pressure, feeling dizzy or confused)
  • Sudden wheezing, chest pain, or trouble breathing
  • Severe skin reactions (widespread rash, hives, redness, severe itching, blisters, peeling skin, swelling, inflamed mucous membranes)
  • Heart attack or abnormal heart rhythm
  • Inflammation of the pancreas (severe stomach and back pain, feeling very unwell)
  • Fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema) causing breathing difficulties, which may appear 24-48 hours after taking the medicine
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Nausea, stomach pain, or dry mouth
  • Drowsiness, tingling or numbness in hands or feet
  • Spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Fast heartbeat or feeling your heart beat strongly (palpitations)
  • Cough, diarrhea, or constipation
  • Skin rash, red skin, or itching
  • Swollen joints, back pain, or joint pain
  • Restlessness or ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Fainting
  • Increased or frequent urination
  • Inability to get or keep an erection
  • Feeling of pressure or heavy sweating
  • Low blood pressure with dizziness or confusion
  • Swelling in the intestine causing stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Changes in blood cells (fewer red or white blood cells, easy bleeding or bruising)
  • High potassium levels in the blood
  • Liver or kidney problems (abnormal test results, liver inflammation, yellow skin, worsening kidney function)
  • Swelling, especially in the face and throat
  • Muscle pain, cramps, or increased muscle stiffness
  • Reddish-purple spots on the skin or fever
  • Swollen gums or stomach inflammation

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to amlodipine, valsartan, or any other calcium channel blocker or other ingredients, which may cause itching, skin redness, or breathing problems.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver or bile problems (e.g., cirrhosis, cholestasis).
  • Do not take after the third month of pregnancy, and avoid use during early pregnancy.
  • Do not take if you have very low blood pressure (hypotension).
  • Do not take if you have narrowing of the aortic valve (aortic stenosis) or cardiogenic shock (your heart cannot pump enough blood).

  • Do not take if you have heart failure after a heart attack.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are being treated with a blood pressure-lowering medicine containing aliskiren.
  • If you experience severe swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema), stop taking this medicine and seek medical help immediately.
  • Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
