Amlodipin/Valsartan Orion is a medicine containing two active substances, amlodipine and valsartan, used to treat high blood pressure in adults whose blood pressure is not controlled by amlodipine or valsartan alone.

How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is one tablet once daily.

Method

Take the tablet with a glass of water, at the same time each day, with or without food. Do not take with grapefruit or grapefruit juice.

Important

Do not exceed the prescribed dose. Your doctor may adjust your dose based on your response.

  • Decreased platelets, which may lead to unusual bruising or bleeding
  • High blood sugar (hyperglycemia)
  • Swollen gums
  • Swollen abdomen (gastritis)
  • Liver problems, liver inflammation (hepatitis), yellowing of the skin (jaundice), elevated liver enzymes
  • Increased muscle tension
  • Blood vessel inflammation, often with skin rash
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Disorders with stiffness, tremor, and/or movement problems
  • Intestinal swelling (angioedema) with symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Decreased red blood cells
  • Fever, sore throat or mouth ulcers due to infection
  • Spontaneous bleeding or bruising
  • High blood potassium levels
  • Abnormal liver test results
  • Impaired kidney function (including severely impaired)
  • Swelling mainly of the face and throat
  • Taste disturbances
  • Confusion
  • Weight gain or loss

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to amlodipine, valsartan, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver problems or bile duct problems, such as biliary cirrhosis or cholestasis.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant after the third month, and avoid use in early pregnancy as it can harm your baby.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have very low blood pressure (hypotension).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have narrowing of the aortic valve (aortic stenosis), cardiogenic shock (when your heart cannot pump enough blood), or heart failure after a heart attack.

  • Do not take this medicine if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are being treated with a blood pressure-lowering medicine containing aliskiren.
  • If you experience sudden swelling, especially of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing, stop taking this medicine immediately and contact your doctor. Never take it again.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you develop severe skin reactions like widespread rash, hives, redness all over the body, severe itching, blistering, peeling skin, or inflamed mucous membranes.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience a heart attack or abnormal heart rate.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have inflammation of the pancreas, causing severe stomach pain and back pain, and making you feel very unwell.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
