Amlodipin/Valsartan Krka contains two medicines (amlodipine and valsartan) that work together to lower high blood pressure.

How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one tablet once a day.

Method

Take the tablet with a glass of water, at the same time each day. You can take it with or without food, but avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice.

Important

Do not exceed the prescribed dose.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Flu-like symptoms (stuffy nose, sore throat, difficulty swallowing)
  • Headache
  • Swelling in arms, hands, legs, ankles, or feet
  • Tiredness
  • Weakness
  • Redness and warmth in face and/or neck (flushing)
  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Palpitations (feeling your heartbeat)
  • Stomach pain
  • Nausea
RARE
  • Dry mouth, changes in taste
  • Tingling, numbness, or inability to feel pain in hands or feet
  • Dizziness, spinning sensation (vertigo), fainting, or dizziness when standing up
  • Cough, sneezing, or runny nose
  • Diarrhea, constipation, or stomach inflammation (gastritis)
  • Skin issues: rash, redness, itching, hair loss, increased sweating, skin discoloration, purple-red spots, or blistering
  • Joint pain, back pain, or joint swelling
  • Restlessness, mood changes (anxiety, depression, sleeplessness), or confusion
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Increased or more frequent urination, or increased need to urinate at night
  • Difficulty getting or keeping an erection, or discomfort/enlarged breasts in men
  • Feeling of pressure, general pain, or feeling unwell
  • Low blood pressure
  • Muscle issues: cramps, stiffness, tension, or general muscle pain
  • Weight changes (gain or loss)
  • Blood cell issues: reduced white or red blood cells, decreased platelets (leading to easy bruising or bleeding)
  • High blood sugar (hyperglycemia) or high blood potassium levels
  • Liver or kidney problems: liver dysfunction, hepatitis, yellow skin (jaundice), abnormal liver/kidney tests, worsening kidney function
  • Swelling, mainly of the face, throat, or intestines (intestinal angioedema)
  • Fever, sore throat, or mouth ulcers due to infection
  • Parkinsonism-like symptoms (e.g., tremor, stiff posture, slow movements)
  • Blood vessel inflammation (vasculitis), often with rash or light sensitivity

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to amlodipine, valsartan, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver or bile duct problems.
  • Do not take if you are more than 3 months pregnant (it's also best to avoid early pregnancy).
  • Do not take if you have very low blood pressure.
  • Do not take if you have a narrowed heart valve (aortic stenosis) or cardiogenic shock (when your heart cannot pump enough blood).

  • Do not take if you have heart failure after a heart attack.
  • Do not take if you have high blood sugar, type 2 diabetes, or kidney problems and are taking aliskiren (a blood pressure lowering medicine).
  • Talk to your doctor if you have had severe vomiting or diarrhea.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.
  • Stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you experience swelling, especially of the face or throat, which may cause breathing difficulties. Do not take this medicine again.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
