How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one tablet once a day.

Method

Take the tablet whole with a glass of water, preferably in the morning at the same time each day, with or without food.

Important

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor, which is usually one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

  • Low potassium in the blood
  • High fat levels in the blood
  • Dizziness
  • Low blood pressure (feeling weak, light-headed, or faint)
  • Drowsiness
  • Palpitations (feeling your heart beat)
  • Flushing
  • Swollen ankles (edema)
  • Stomach pain
  • Nausea after meals
  • Tiredness
  • Headache
  • Frequent urination
  • High uric acid in the blood
  • Low magnesium in the blood
  • Low sodium in the blood
  • Dizziness or fainting when standing up
  • Reduced appetite
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Itchy rash and other skin rashes
  • Inability to get or keep an erection
RARE
  • Severely reduced urine output (kidney problems)
  • Fast heart rate
  • Spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Vision problems
  • Chest pain
  • Spontaneous bleeding
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Liver problems
  • Sudden wheezing, chest pain, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Swelling of eyelids, face, or lips
  • Severe skin reactions (e.g., severe rash, hives, skin peeling)
  • Heart attack
  • Pancreas inflammation (severe stomach pain)
  • Weakness, bruising, fever and frequent infections (due to low white blood cells)
  • Stiffness
  • High pressure in the eyes (possible signs of fluid buildup in the eye or acute narrow-angle glaucoma)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are more than 3 months pregnant. It is also not recommended in early pregnancy.
  • Do not take if you are allergic to amlodipine, valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, other calcium channel blockers, sulfonamide medicines, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver problems or a condition where bile cannot flow from your liver.
  • Do not take if you have severe kidney problems, are on dialysis, or cannot produce urine.
  • Do not take if you have very low potassium or sodium levels, very high calcium levels, or gout.

  • Do not take if you have very low blood pressure.
  • Do not take if you have heart failure after a heart attack.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking other blood pressure medicine that contains aliskiren.
  • Hydrochlorothiazide, one of the ingredients, can increase the risk of certain skin and lip cancers. Protect your skin from sun and UV light while taking this medicine.
  • If you have had breathing problems or lung issues after taking hydrochlorothiazide, or if you develop severe shortness of breath after taking this medicine, seek immediate medical attention.
  • Do not take this medicine with grapefruit or grapefruit juice.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
