Amlodipine/Valsartan/Hydrochlorothiazide Krka

This medicine contains three active substances (amlodipine, valsartan, and hydrochlorothiazide) that work together to lower high blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels and increasing urine output.

How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one tablet once a day.

Method

Take the tablet whole with a glass of water, preferably in the morning, with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than your doctor has prescribed.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint when standing up
  • Low blood pressure
  • Tiredness or weakness
  • Headache
  • Swollen ankles or other body parts (edema)
  • Stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting
  • Increased or frequent urination
  • Changes in blood tests (e.g., low potassium, low sodium, high uric acid, increased blood fats)
  • Erectile dysfunction (difficulty getting or keeping an erection)
  • Itchy skin rash or other skin rashes
  • Palpitations (feeling your heartbeat)
RARE
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Vision problems or reduced vision
  • Chest pain
  • Weight changes (gain or loss) or loss of appetite
  • Muscle cramps, weakness, or pain
  • Difficulty standing or walking normally
  • Tingling or numbness
  • Cough or shortness of breath
  • Heavy sweating
  • Mood changes, anxiety, depression, or insomnia
  • Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
  • Hair loss or skin discoloration
  • Problems with kidney function or very little urine production
  • Liver problems, including yellowing of skin/eyes (jaundice) or dark urine
  • Bleeding or bruising easily (due to low platelet count)
  • High blood sugar or sugar in the urine
  • Severe skin reactions like widespread rash, blisters, or peeling skin (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Inflammation of the pancreas (severe stomach pain)
  • Heart attack

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant for more than 3 months, or if you are planning to become pregnant.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to amlodipine, valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or any of its ingredients, or to similar medicines.
  • Stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor right away if you experience swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or have difficulty breathing.
  • Protect your skin from the sun and UV light while taking this medicine, as it can increase the risk of certain skin cancers.
  • If you experience any vision loss or eye pain, contact your doctor immediately.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
