How to Use

Dosage

Adults usually take one 5 mg Amlodipine Orion tablet once a day. The dose can be increased to 10 mg once a day. For children and adolescents (6-17 years), the starting dose is 2.5 mg once a day, with a maximum dose of 5 mg per day.

Method

Take the medicine with water, at the same time each day, with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 10 mg for adults and 5 mg for children aged 6-17 years.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Swelling (fluid retention).
  • Headache, dizziness, sleepiness (especially at the start of treatment).
  • Palpitations (feeling your heart beat), flushing.
  • Stomach pain, nausea.
  • Changes in bowel habits, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion.
  • Tiredness, weakness.
  • Vision problems, double vision.
  • Muscle cramps.
  • Ankle swelling.
RARE
  • Mood changes, anxiety, depression, insomnia.
  • Tremor, taste changes, fainting.
  • Numbness or tingling in limbs, loss of pain sensation.
  • Ringing in the ears.
  • Low blood pressure.
  • Sneezing/runny nose due to inflamed nasal lining (rhinitis).
  • Cough.
  • Dry mouth, vomiting.
  • Hair loss, increased sweating, itchy skin, red patches on skin, skin discoloration.
  • Urination problems, increased need to urinate at night, frequent urination.
  • Erectile dysfunction, discomfort or enlargement of breasts in men.
  • Pain, feeling unwell.
  • Joint or muscle pain, back pain.
  • Weight gain or loss.
  • Confusion.
  • Decrease in white blood cells and platelets, which can cause unusual bruising or easy bleeding.
  • Increased blood sugar (hyperglycemia).
  • Nerve disorder causing muscle weakness, tingling, or numbness.
  • Swollen gums.
  • Swollen abdomen (gastritis).
  • Abnormal liver function, liver inflammation (hepatitis), yellow skin (jaundice), increased liver enzymes that may affect medical tests.
  • Increased muscle tension.
  • Inflammation of blood vessels, often with skin rash.
  • Light sensitivity.
  • Conditions involving stiffness, tremor, and/or movement disorders.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to amlodipine, other calcium channel blockers, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have very low blood pressure.
  • Do not take if you have a narrow aortic valve or cardiogenic shock (a condition where your heart cannot pump enough blood).
  • Do not take if you have heart failure after a heart attack.
  • Tell your doctor if you have recently had a heart attack.

  • Amlodipine Orion is not recommended for children under 6 years old.
  • Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.
  • If you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or planning a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.
  • If you are breastfeeding or about to start breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before starting Amlodipine Orion.
  • This medicine can make you feel sick, dizzy, tired, or give you a headache. If this happens, do not drive or use machines and contact your doctor immediately.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience sudden wheezing, chest pain, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience swelling of eyelids, face, or lips.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience swelling of the tongue and throat, causing severe breathing difficulties.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe skin reactions, including intense rash, hives, widespread skin redness, severe itching, blistering, peeling skin, swelling, inflammation of mucous membranes (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis), or other allergic reactions.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience a heart attack or abnormal heartbeat.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience inflammation of the pancreas, which can cause severe stomach and back pain and make you feel very unwell.

Category A
