How to Use

Dosage

½-4 tablets once daily.

Method

Tablets can be divided into equal doses.

Important

Maximum 4 tablets per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, feeling weak, dizzy, tired
  • High blood sugar, high uric acid (can cause gout), potassium levels too high or too low, loss of appetite
  • Shortness of breath, cough
  • Feeling sick to your stomach (nausea), diarrhea, stomach pain
  • Skin rash, itching
  • Irregular heartbeat
RARE
  • Thirst, dehydration, gout
  • Bad taste in mouth, throwing up, constipation, gas, hiccups, upper abdominal discomfort
  • Allergic skin reactions
  • Chest pain, fast heartbeat, sudden drop in blood pressure when standing up
  • Erectile dysfunction (impotence)
  • Numbness or tingling in skin
  • Trouble seeing, eye pain
  • Mild mood changes, trouble sleeping, nervousness, sadness
  • Muscle, joint pain or cramps
  • Needing to urinate often at night, painful urination, trouble holding urine
  • Fainting
  • Unbalanced salt levels in blood
  • Bleeding in stomach/gut, inflamed pancreas
  • Skin sensitivity to light
  • Kidney problems
  • Severe upper belly pain (from blocked bile flow)
  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Changes in blood tests, anemia (low red blood cells)
  • Fluid in lungs (pulmonary edema)
  • Bruises, sores
  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Sudden severe breathing problems (with fever, weakness, confusion)
  • Low magnesium
  • Stuffy nose
  • Dry mouth
  • Skin and lip cancer (non-melanoma type)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to this medicine or its ingredients.
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney failure.
  • Do not use if your blood potassium levels are too high (above 5.5 mmol/L).
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other potassium-sparing medicines or potassium supplements.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you develop vision problems, eye pain, or severe breathing difficulties.

  • Contact your doctor immediately if your skin or whites of your eyes turn yellow, or if you have skin bleeding or mouth ulcers.
  • Protect your skin from sun and UV radiation, as this medicine may increase the risk of skin cancer.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
