How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 160 micrograms once a day, but some patients may take 80 micrograms once a day.

Method

Inhale the spray through your mouth into your lungs, usually once a day in the morning or evening. Always follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 640 micrograms, taken as two 320 microgram doses per day if needed.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Hoarseness
  • Burning, inflammation, or irritation in the mouth or throat
  • Oral thrush (a fungal infection in the mouth)
  • Headache
  • Bad taste in mouth
  • Dry mouth or throat
  • Feeling sick (nausea) or throwing up (vomiting)
RARE
  • Fast or strong heartbeat (palpitations)
  • Stomach upset or pain
  • High blood pressure
  • Sleep problems
  • Feeling sad (depression), worried, restless, nervous, too excited, or easily annoyed (more often in children)
  • Blurred vision

Important Warnings

  • This medicine is not for sudden, severe breathing problems. Use your quick-relief inhaler for those attacks.
  • Contact your doctor right away if your asthma symptoms get worse, you wake up at night because of your symptoms, or your quick-relief inhaler doesn't help.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had or currently have tuberculosis (TB), or any fungal, viral, or bacterial infections in your lungs.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to ciclesonide or any other ingredients listed in the leaflet.
  • Let your doctor know if you notice blurred vision or any other problems with your eyesight.
