How to Use

Dosage

The highest recommended maintenance dose is 100,000 SQ-U (1 ml from bottle 4, red); the dose is adjusted individually.

Method

The medicine is given as an injection under the skin, usually into the arm. It is always given by a doctor or nurse.

Important

The maximum dose administered on a single day (per injection) is 100,000 SQ-U.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Swelling, hives, discoloration, lumps, pain, bruising, hardening, inflammation, rash, warmth, pimples, redness, and/or itching at the injection site.
  • Dizziness
  • Eye inflammation
  • Wheezing, asthma symptoms, shortness of breath, chest tightness, cough, or sneezing.
  • Throat irritation or feeling of a foreign body in the throat.
  • Itchy, uncomfortable, stuffy, or runny nose.
  • Stomach pain, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, or heartburn.
  • Hives, itching, rash, red skin, eczema, flushing, or itchy ears.
  • General discomfort, fatigue, chills, or feeling hot.
RARE
  • Swollen eyelids
  • Facial swelling

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have poor lung function, severe asthma that has worsened in the last 3 months, an active autoimmune disease, a disease affecting your immune system, or cancer.
  • Do not take if you have a fever, infection, or recent allergy symptoms (like hay fever, asthma, or rash) within the last 3-4 days.
  • On the day of injection, avoid heavy physical activity, sauna, hot baths, and alcohol.
  • Stay at the clinic for at least 30 minutes after each injection to monitor for possible allergic reactions.

  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as rapid swelling of the face, mouth, or throat, difficulty swallowing or breathing, hives, voice changes, worsening asthma, nausea, stomach pain, cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, or a strong feeling of discomfort.
  • Do not start Alutard SQ treatment during pregnancy. If you become pregnant while on treatment, discuss the risks of continuing with your doctor.
