How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your dose, starting with weekly injections, then continuing every 6-8 weeks for 3-5 years.

Method

A doctor or nurse will give you the medicine as an injection under the skin in your arm. Stay at the clinic for at least 30 minutes after each injection.

Important

The maximum recommended maintenance dose is 100,000 SQ-U per milliliter.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Swelling, hives, discoloration, lumps, pain, bruising, hardening, inflammation, rash, warmth, pimples, redness, and/or itching at the injection site.
  • Severe allergic reaction.
  • Dizziness.
  • Eye inflammation.
  • Wheezing.
  • Asthma symptoms, shortness of breath, tightness in lower airways, cough or sneezing.
  • Throat irritation.
  • Itchy nose.
  • Uncomfortable feeling in nose, stuffy or runny nose.
  • Abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, heartburn.
  • Hives, itching, rash, skin redness.
  • Eczema.
  • Flushing.
  • Ear itching.
  • General discomfort.
  • Fatigue.
  • Chills.
  • Feeling of heat.
  • Feeling of foreign body in throat.
RARE
  • Anaphylactic shock.
  • Eyelid swelling.
  • Facial swelling.
  • Tingling sensation on skin.
  • Feeling of fast, strong, or irregular heartbeat.
  • Unusually fast heartbeat.
  • Bluish skin discoloration.
  • Low blood pressure.
  • Paleness.
  • Tightness in lower airways.
  • Tightness in throat.
  • Swelling of face or throat.
  • Joint swelling and pain.
  • Chest discomfort.
  • Hair growth at the injection site.
  • Atopic eczema may worsen during treatment.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have poor lung function, severe asthma worsening in the last 3 months, an active autoimmune disease that is not well controlled, or cancer.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have a fever, signs of infection, or allergic symptoms (like hay fever, asthma, or rash) in the last 3-4 days.
  • On the day of your injection, avoid strenuous physical activity, sauna, hot baths, and alcohol.
  • After your injection, you must stay at the clinic for at least 30 minutes for observation.

  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience severe allergic reactions (e.g., hives, difficulty swallowing or breathing, voice changes, drop in blood pressure, feeling a lump in your throat) or if your asthma symptoms get significantly worse.
  • Do not start this treatment if you are pregnant. If you become pregnant during treatment, discuss the risks of continuing with your doctor.
  • This medicine is generally not recommended for children under 5 years of age for allergy treatment.
