How to Use

Dosage

For anxiety, the usual starting dose is 0.25-0.5 mg three times a day, and the usual treatment dose is 0.5-3 mg per day divided into three doses.

Method

Take the tablet with a glass of water or other drink, exactly as your doctor has told you. Do not change the dose or stop treatment on your own.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 3 mg, divided into three doses, and treatment should not last longer than 2-4 weeks.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Alprox if you are allergic to alprazolam, benzodiazepines, or any other ingredient.
  • Do not take Alprox if you have myasthenia gravis (a muscle weakness disease).
  • Do not take Alprox if you have severe breathing problems or sleep apnea.
  • Do not take Alprox if you have severe liver failure.
  • Be aware that the effect of the tablets may lessen after several weeks of continuous use.

  • Contact your doctor if you experience unexpected reactions like restlessness, agitation, irritability, nightmares, worsened insomnia, hallucinations, psychosis, confusion, or other behavior changes, especially in children and the elderly.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a chronic lung disease, use alcohol or sedatives at the same time, or have severe depression (risk of suicide).
  • This medication can cause physical and mental dependence; do not stop taking it suddenly as it can lead to withdrawal symptoms.
  • Misuse of this medication is a known risk and can lead to overdose and death; always follow your doctor's instructions.
  • Do not drink alcohol during Alprox treatment as it enhances the sedative effect.
  • Do not use Alprox if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, unless strictly necessary and advised by your doctor.
  • Alprox can impair your ability to drive or operate machinery due to its calming, muscle-relaxing, and sedating effects.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you develop symptoms of angioedema, such as swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, hives, and difficulty breathing.
  • This medication contains lactose. If you have an intolerance to certain sugars, consult your doctor before taking it.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Sedative. A long-acting. Increases the risk of drug addiction, cognitive disorder and traffic accidents. Increases risk of falls. Paradoxically, may increase anxiety, restlessness and aggression. (updated 15.1.2024)
