How to Use

Dosage

Start by usually taking 0.25-0.5 mg three times a day. Your doctor may slowly increase your dose up to 3-4 mg per day, divided into several doses.

Method

Take the tablets by mouth with liquid, such as half a glass of water. You can divide the tablets in half along the score line.

  • Liver problems (shown in blood tests)
  • Severe allergic reactions (like swelling of the face or throat)
  • Swelling of ankles, feet, or fingers
  • Skin reaction due to sensitivity to sunlight
  • Difficulty urinating or problems controlling the bladder
  • Increased pressure in the eyes (which can affect vision)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to alprazolam, other similar medicines (benzodiazepines), or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have severe muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis), serious breathing problems (like sleep apnea or chronic bronchitis), or severe liver problems.
  • This medicine can lead to dependence or addiction. Do not use it for a long time without your doctor's advice.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of abusing alcohol, drugs, or other medicines.
  • This medicine can cause memory problems. Make sure you get 7-8 hours of sleep.

  • If you are depressed, this medicine might increase thoughts of harming yourself or suicide. Talk to your doctor immediately if this happens.
  • If you are elderly, be careful as this medicine can make you tired and weak, increasing the risk of falls.
  • Do not give this medicine to children or teenagers under 18 years old.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine. Alcohol can change and strengthen its effects unpredictably.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless your doctor says it's absolutely necessary.
  • This medicine can affect your ability to drive or use machines. Be careful, especially at the start of treatment or if the dose is increased.

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Sedative. A long-acting. Increases the risk of drug addiction, cognitive disorder and traffic accidents. Increases risk of falls. Paradoxically, may increase anxiety, restlessness and aggression. (updated 15.1.2024)
