How to Use

Dosage

Start with 0.25-0.5 mg, three times a day. Your doctor may slowly increase the dose if needed, up to a maximum of 3-4 mg per day.

Method

Take the tablets by mouth with a little liquid, like half a glass of water. The tablets have a score line and can be split into equal doses.

The maximum daily dose is typically 3-4 mg, divided into several smaller doses throughout the day.

RARE
  • Feeling euphoric or overly excited (unusual behavior)
  • Hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that aren't there)
  • Agitation or anger
  • Vomiting
  • Muscle spasms or weakness
  • Incontinence (inability to control urination)
  • Cramping pain in the lower back and thighs (may indicate menstrual disorder)
  • Drug dependence
  • Drug withdrawal symptoms
  • Irregular periods or too much prolactin (hormone for milk production) in women
  • Hostility or aggression
  • Abnormal thoughts
  • Twisting or twitching movements
  • Hyperactivity
  • Stomach problems
  • Liver problems (seen in blood tests), hepatitis
  • Nervous system imbalance (symptoms may include fast heart rate, unstable blood pressure, dizziness, weakness, or fainting)
  • Severe allergic reaction (swelling of face or throat)
  • Swelling of ankles, feet or fingers
  • Skin reaction due to sun sensitivity
  • Difficulty urinating or bladder control issues
  • Increased eye pressure (may affect vision)
  • Drug abuse

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to alprazolam, similar medicines, or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take if you have severe muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis), severe lung problems, breathing difficulties, sleep apnea, or severe liver problems.
  • If you experience strong agitation, restlessness, aggression, irritability, rage, false beliefs, nightmares, hallucinations, or unusual behavior, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you have sudden wheezing, trouble swallowing or breathing, swelling of eyelids, face or lips, or rash/itching (especially all over your body).
  • If you notice memory loss or yellowing of your skin or eyes, tell your doctor. Your dose or treatment may need to change.

  • This medicine is not for children or young people under 18 years of age.
  • Do not drink alcohol during treatment. Alcohol can change and increase the medicine's effects in unexpected ways.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are breastfeeding, as the medicine passes into breast milk.
  • This medicine is not suitable if you have psychosis, a severe mental illness that affects your behavior and self-control.
  • If you have depression and notice mood changes (like feeling overly happy or energetic) or thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor immediately or go to the hospital.
  • If you are elderly, be very careful with this medicine, as it can cause more tiredness and/or muscle weakness, which increases the risk of falling.
