How to Use

Dosage

One 12.5 mg tablet should be taken as soon as a migraine attack begins.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with liquid (e.g., water). It can be taken with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is two 12.5 mg tablets within 24 hours. If you have severe kidney disease, take only one 12.5 mg tablet within 24 hours.

  • sudden narrowing of heart blood vessels or heart attack
  • fast heartbeat
  • allergic reactions, including swelling of the face, throat, or hands
  • seizures
  • blurred or reduced vision
  • severe stomach pain with bloody diarrhea (sign of intestinal damage)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to almotriptan or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have or have had heart problems or poor blood circulation in the heart, such as a heart attack, chest pain, or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
  • Do not use if you have had a stroke or reduced blood flow to the brain.
  • Do not use if you have had blockages in major arteries in your arms or legs.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are taking other migraine medicines, such as ergotamine or sumatriptan.

  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you don't know what type of migraine you have.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are allergic to certain antibiotics used for urinary tract infections (sulphonamides).
  • Talk to your doctor if your migraine symptoms are unusual, for example, if you hear sounds in your ears, feel dizzy, experience temporary paralysis, or have new symptoms.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have risk factors for heart disease, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, overweight, diabetes, smoking, or a family history of heart disease. The risk is higher for men over 40 and women after menopause.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have mild to moderate liver disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have severe kidney disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are over 65 years old.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are taking certain antidepressants (SSRI or SNRI medicines).
  • Too much migraine medicine can cause chronic daily headaches.
  • Be careful if you take antidepressants or St. John's Wort, as they can cause a serious condition called serotonin syndrome with Almogran. Symptoms include confusion, fever, sweating, and rapid muscle movements.
  • Do not take Almogran at the same time as ergotamine-containing migraine medicines. Wait at least 6 hours after Almogran before taking ergotamine, and at least 24 hours after ergotamine before taking Almogran.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor. Do not breastfeed within 24 hours after taking Almogran.
  • This medicine can make you sleepy. If this happens, do not drive or operate machinery.
