How to Use

Dosage

Take one 10 mg prolonged-release tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water, after your evening meal. Do not break, crush, chew, or divide the tablet.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one 10 mg tablet.

Possible Side Effects

  • Feeling weak or tired, dizziness

RARE
  • Vertigo, drowsiness
  • Blurred vision
  • Irregular or fast heartbeat, palpitations
  • Fainting (especially at the start of treatment)
  • Significant drop in blood pressure when standing up
  • Runny nose, itchy nose, sneezing, stuffy nose
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Dry mouth
  • Skin rash, hives, itching
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Swelling of ankles or feet
  • Facial flushing, hot flashes
  • Chest pain

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to alfuzosin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have low blood pressure when standing up (postural hypotension), which can cause dizziness or fainting.
  • Do not take if you have liver disease.
  • Do not take with other alpha-blocker medicines.
  • If you experience chest pain, stop taking the medicine and seek medical help immediately.

  • If you have signs of a severe allergic reaction (like swelling of face/throat, difficulty breathing), stop taking the medicine and seek medical help immediately.
  • If you have a prolonged, painful erection lasting more than 4 hours, seek medical help immediately.
  • This medicine can make you feel dizzy or weak, especially when you first start taking it. Do not drive or use machines until you know how it affects you.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Significant adverse effects include orthostatic hypotension and dizziness. Increases risk of falls. Consider potential interactions especially with antihypertensives. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 25.11.2024)
