This medicine is a type of vitamin D that helps your body manage calcium and phosphate levels, which are important for healthy bones and teeth.
Start with 0.25-0.5 micrograms once daily. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on blood tests, potentially increasing it to 0.25-1 microgram, or 3-5 micrograms if your calcium levels are very low.
Take by mouth. Do not chew or crush the capsule.
Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose; generally, do not exceed 5 micrograms per day unless specifically instructed by your doctor.
