Dosage

Method

Alburex is given as an intravenous infusion (into a vein) by a healthcare professional. The solution should be warmed to room or body temperature before use.

Important

The maximum daily dose is determined and carefully monitored by your doctor to prevent an abnormal increase in blood volume.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Skin reactions (redness, itching, swelling, blisters, rash, hives).
  • Breathing difficulties (wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, cough).
  • Swelling of the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Cold-like symptoms (stuffy or runny nose, sneezing, red, itchy, swollen, or watery eyes).
  • Headache.
  • Stomach pain.
  • Vomiting.
  • Diarrhea.
RARE
  • Redness (especially of face and neck).
  • Itchy rash (hives).
  • Fever.
  • Nausea.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Alburex if you are allergic to human albumin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, fluid in your lungs, bleeding issues, severe anemia, or kidney problems.
  • Inform your doctor or nurse if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby.
  • This medicine contains sodium; inform your doctor if you are on a low-sodium diet.
