How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the right dose, typically starting with 1 tablet (100mg) twice a day for high blood pressure.

Method

Take the tablets with water, with food.

Important

The maximum daily dose prescribed by your doctor is up to 2400 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Positive antinuclear antibody test in lab tests without related illness
  • Allergic reactions, drug fever (like a fever)
  • Dizziness, headache, tingling in the scalp
  • Blurred vision
  • Heart failure
  • Low blood pressure when standing up
  • Blocked nose
  • Nausea
  • Increased liver enzyme levels
  • Difficulty with urination
  • Problems with ejaculation and erection
  • Tiredness and lack of energy
RARE
  • Low mood
  • Eye irritation
  • Tightening of airways (difficulty breathing)
  • Vomiting, stomach pain
  • Sweating
  • Calf cramps
  • Slow heartbeat
  • Shaking in pregnant women
  • Heart conduction problem (AV block)
  • Worsening of Raynaud's syndrome (fingers turning white)
  • Liver inflammation, yellow skin/eyes (jaundice), liver cell death
  • Muscle disease
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus (an autoimmune disease)
  • Inability to urinate (even if bladder is full)
  • Swelling in ankles
  • Nipple pain
  • Temporary decrease in blood flow to nipples, causing numbness, paleness, and pain (Raynaud's phenomenon)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Albetol if you are allergic to labetalol or any other ingredient in the medicine.
  • Do not use if you have asthma or another severe lung disease.
  • Do not use if you have severe heart failure, serious heart rhythm problems, or a very slow heart rate.
  • Do not use if you have very low blood pressure.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without your doctor's advice, as it can make your condition worse.
