How to Use

Dosage

Usually 1 tablet (100 mg) twice a day.

Method

Take the tablets with water during a meal.

Important

The maximum dose is 8 tablets (800 mg) per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Positive result in a blood test (ANA) without any related illness.
  • Allergic reactions or drug fever.
  • Feeling dizzy, headache, or tingling sensation in the scalp.
  • Blurred eyesight.
  • Heart not pumping enough blood (heart failure).
  • Feeling lightheaded when standing up quickly due to low blood pressure.
  • Blocked or stuffy nose.
  • Feeling sick to your stomach (nausea).
  • Higher levels of liver enzymes in blood tests.
  • Problems or difficulty urinating.
  • Problems with ejaculation or getting an erection.
  • Feeling tired and lacking energy.
RARE
  • Feeling down or sad.
  • Irritation in the eyes.
  • Tightening of the airways in your lungs.
  • Vomiting and pain in the upper part of the stomach.
  • Increased sweating.
  • Cramps in the calf muscles.
  • Very slow heart rate.
  • Shaking in pregnant women.
  • Problem with heart's electrical signals (AV block).
  • Worsening of Raynaud's syndrome symptoms (fingers turning white/blue).
  • Liver inflammation, yellowing of skin/eyes (jaundice), or severe liver damage.
  • Muscle disease.
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus (an autoimmune disease).
  • Difficulty emptying your bladder completely.
  • Swelling in the ankles.
  • Pain in the nipples.
  • Numbness, paleness, and pain in the nipples due to reduced blood flow (Raynaud's phenomenon).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to labetalol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have asthma or another lung disease that narrows your airways.
  • Do not use if you have severe heart failure.
  • Do not use if you have a severe heart conduction disorder (AV block II or III).
  • Do not use if you have a very slow heart rate.

  • Do not use if you have very low blood pressure.
  • Do not stop taking the medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor, as it can worsen heart symptoms.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, as Albetol can hide symptoms of low blood sugar.
  • If your skin or the whites of your eyes turn yellow, tell your doctor right away. You may need to stop the medication.
  • Tell your doctor or dentist you are taking Albetol if you are having surgery or dental procedures.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy, discuss with your doctor before using Albetol.
