How to Use

Dosage

One 25 mg tablet in the evening before bedtime. Your doctor might sometimes prescribe 50 mg (two tablets) to be taken at once.

Method

Take the tablet whole with a glass of water. You can take it with or without food.

Important

Maximum of 50 mg per day (two tablets).

  • Excessive sweating
  • Skin rash, itching, or hives
  • Agitation, irritability, restlessness, or aggressive behavior
  • Nightmares
  • Mania or hypomania (periods of unusual high energy or mood)
  • Thoughts of harming yourself or suicide
  • Confusion
  • Weight loss
  • Muscle pain
  • Severe skin rashes (reddening)
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and/or throat (angioedema), which can cause breathing or swallowing difficulties
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes (jaundice)
  • Liver failure (in rare cases leading to liver transplant or death)
  • Seeing or hearing things that are not there (hallucinations)
  • Inability to sit still (feeling physically and mentally restless)
  • Inability to fully empty the bladder

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to agomelatine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not take if you are also taking fluvoxamine (another antidepressant) or ciprofloxacin (an antibiotic).
  • If you notice signs of liver problems like dark urine, pale stools, yellow skin or eyes, upper right belly pain, or unusual tiredness, see a doctor right away.
  • This medicine is not for people aged 75 years or older.

  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact a doctor or go to a hospital immediately.
  • Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.
  • Do not breastfeed if you are taking this medicine.
  • This medicine may cause dizziness or sleepiness, which can affect your ability to drive or use machines. Be sure your reactions are normal before driving or using machines.

Use in Elderly Patients
