How to Use

Dosage

The doctor will inject 0.1-0.3 ml into the vein, depending on the size of the area being treated.

Method

The doctor will inject the medicine into a vein in your leg while your leg is flat or raised 30-45 degrees. You should walk for 30 minutes after the injection, preferably at a clinic.

Important

The maximum dose is 2 mg of lauromacrogol 400 per kg of body weight per day (e.g., a 70 kg person can receive up to 14 ml of Aethoxysklerol 10 mg/ml per day).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • New blood vessels appearing in the treated area
  • Bruising or skin discoloration
  • Temporary, local pain or blood clots at the injection site
  • Sores or tissue damage at the esophageal injection site
  • Bleeding in the esophagus
  • Difficulty swallowing or narrowing of the esophagus
  • Chest pain or fever
  • Fluid in the lungs, holes in the esophagus, or lung inflammation
  • Breathing difficulties related to esophageal treatment
RARE
  • Inflammation of veins
  • Allergic skin reactions, hives, or redness
  • Local tissue death, hardening, or swelling
  • Nerve damage
  • Deep vein blood clots or blood clots in the lung
  • Pain in arms or legs
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock) with symptoms like sudden breathing difficulty, dizziness, and low blood pressure
  • Swelling of the skin (especially face, eyelids, lips, throat) or asthma
  • Stroke, headache, migraine, numbness, confusion, dizziness, speech problems, weakness on one side, or reduced sensation
  • Vision problems, changes in taste (e.g., metallic taste), nausea, or vomiting
  • Heart problems like cardiac arrest, palpitations, abnormal heart rate, or low blood pressure
  • Collapsed lung, bacteria in the blood, severe lung problem (ARDS), or lymph fluid in the lungs
  • Abnormal connection between the lung and esophagus, or problems with esophagus movement
  • Increased hair growth in the treated area
  • General discomfort or weakness
  • A type of skin cancer (squamous cell carcinoma)

Important Warnings

  • This medicine must never be injected into an artery, as it can cause serious tissue damage and may lead to amputation.
  • Be very careful if the medicine is used on the face, as injections into veins there can cause permanent vision loss.
  • In areas like your foot or ankle, there's a higher risk of accidentally injecting into an artery. Only small amounts should be used with extra care in these areas.
  • For treating esophageal varicose veins, your doctor must be very careful with higher concentrations. Do not use high concentrations of Aethoxysklerol (30 mg/ml) as this can cause severe tissue death and ruptures.
