How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the usual dose is 0.5 mg; for children, it's 0.01 mg per kg of body weight.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection into a muscle or bone. For injection into a vein, it must be diluted first.

Important

Doses can be repeated every 5-15 minutes as needed, based on blood pressure, heart rate, and breathing. For cardiac arrest, doses may be repeated every 3-5 minutes.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, dizziness
  • Anxiety, fear, restlessness
  • Tremor (shaking)
  • Insomnia, confusion, irritability
  • Unusual mood or behavior
  • Dry mouth or increased saliva
  • Weakness or sweating
  • Changes in heart rhythm or heart rate
  • Palpitations (fast or irregular heartbeat), fast heart rate at rest, chest pain
  • High blood pressure
  • Cold hands or feet
  • Shortness of breath
  • Loss of appetite, nausea, or vomiting
  • Metabolic acidosis (an imbalance of certain blood components)
  • Increased blood sugar levels
  • Decreased potassium levels in the blood
RARE
  • Rare allergic reactions, including wheezing, due to sodium metabisulphite (a preservative).
  • Repeated injections can cause tissue damage at the injection site, and possibly in limbs, kidneys, and liver.
  • Difficulty urinating or inability to empty the bladder
  • Increased tremor and stiffness in patients with Parkinson's disease
  • Bleeding in the head
  • Paralysis on one side of the body
  • Fluid accumulation in the lungs (pulmonary edema)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to adrenaline or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are elderly.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have heart problems, especially if they affect your heart rate or if you have chest pain.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have had brain problems like a stroke, brain injury, or blood vessel disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have an overactive thyroid, diabetes, or glaucoma (high eye pressure).

  • Talk to your doctor if you have phaeochromocytoma (a tumor in the adrenal gland).
  • Talk to your doctor if you have low blood potassium or high blood calcium levels.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have a prostate tumor or kidney disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are in shock or have lost a lot of blood.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are going to have surgery with anesthesia.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have high blood pressure.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have arteriosclerosis (hardening and narrowing of the arteries).
  • Do not use Adrenalin Noridem during pregnancy or childbirth. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine. Adrenaline may only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding if your doctor believes it is absolutely necessary.
  • Do not inject adrenaline into fingers, toes, ears, nose, or penis, as blood flow to these areas may become insufficient.
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, as they may affect how Adrenalin Noridem works.
  • Use with caution or avoid if you are receiving general anesthesia with certain agents, due to risk of heart rhythm problems.
