How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor or nurse will decide your dose. For cardiac arrest, adults and children over 12 usually receive 1 mg into a vein every 3-5 minutes. Children under 12 receive 0.01 mg/kg into a vein, with a maximum of 1 mg per dose. For severe allergic reactions, the dose is usually given into a muscle.

Method

A doctor or nurse will give you this medicine as an injection into a vein or a muscle.

Important

This medicine is given as needed in an emergency. The maximum single dose for children under 12 is 1 mg.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to adrenaline, sodium metabisulfite (a preservative), or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart or blood vessel disease (like chest pain, heart muscle disease, irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure), an overactive thyroid gland, a tumor in your adrenal gland, glaucoma, severe kidney problems, an enlarged prostate, high or low calcium or potassium in your blood, or diabetes.
  • This medicine should be used with caution in elderly patients and pregnant women. Breastfeeding mothers should avoid breastfeeding if they are given adrenaline.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines, especially beta-blockers, anesthetics, antidepressants, or diabetes medicines.
