How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 0.5 ml, but your doctor will decide the exact amount.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection into a muscle, or sometimes into a vein by a healthcare professional.

Important

The dose may be repeated if needed every 5 to 15 minutes, as decided by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Feeling anxious, scared, or restless
  • Shaking (tremor)
  • Trouble sleeping, confusion, irritability
  • Unusual mood or behavior
  • Dry mouth or a lot of saliva
  • Weakness or sweating
  • Changes in heart rhythm or rate
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat (palpitations), chest pain
  • High blood pressure
  • Cold hands or feet
  • Shortness of breath
  • Less hunger, feeling sick to your stomach, or throwing up
  • Pain, bruising, or bleeding where the shot was given (especially with repeated shots)
  • High blood sugar
  • Pale skin
  • Fainting
  • Large pupils
  • Increased stiffness and shaking in people with Parkinson's disease
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction with breathing problems, swelling of eyes/face/lips, or severe rash/itching all over the body
  • Bleeding in the brain
  • Paralysis on one side of the body
  • Heart attack
  • Fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema)
  • Body chemical imbalance (metabolic acidosis)
  • Reduced potassium in blood
  • Fat breakdown in the body
  • Kidney problems (difficulty urinating or kidney damage)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to adrenaline or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Injections should not be given in fingers, toes, ears, nose, genitals, or buttocks, as blood flow to these areas might be too low.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are elderly, have heart problems, brain problems (like stroke), an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, a tumor in the adrenal gland, low potassium or high calcium levels, prostate enlargement, kidney disease, are in shock or have lost a lot of blood, are having surgery, have high blood pressure, or hardening of the arteries.
  • Adrenaline should only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding if your doctor says it's absolutely necessary.
  • Do not drive or use machines if this medicine causes you any side effects.
