How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your exact dose based on your weight and overall health, adjusting it over time as needed.

Method

Take the capsules whole with a glass of water, usually twice a day (morning and evening). Take them on an empty stomach, at least one hour before or two to three hours after a meal.

Important

The maximum daily dose is determined by your doctor based on your weight and transplant type, typically ranging from 0.075 to 0.30 mg/kg per day initially.

  • Changes in blood cell counts (low or high white blood cells, low red blood cells, low platelets)
  • Changes in blood mineral levels (e.g., low magnesium, phosphate, potassium, calcium, sodium), fluid retention, high uric acid or fats, poor appetite, increased blood acidity.
  • Anxiety, confusion, disorientation, depression, mood changes, nightmares, hallucinations, mental disorders.
  • Seizures, changes in consciousness, tingling or numbness in hands/feet, dizziness, problems with writing, nerve disorders.
  • Increased sensitivity to light, eye problems
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Reduced blood flow to heart vessels, fast heart rate
  • Bleeding, partial or complete blockage of blood vessels, low blood pressure
  • Shortness of breath, lung changes, fluid around lungs, sore throat, cough, flu-like symptoms
  • Stomach pain, diarrhea, stomach bleeding, mouth sores, fluid in the abdomen, vomiting, indigestion, constipation, gas, bloating, loose stools.
  • Abnormal liver enzymes, yellow skin (jaundice) due to liver problems, liver tissue damage, liver inflammation.
  • Itching, rash, hair loss, acne, increased sweating
  • Joint, limb, back, and foot pain, muscle spasms
  • Kidney failure, reduced urination, weakened or painful urination
  • General weakness, fever, fluid retention, pain and discomfort, increased alkaline phosphatase in blood, weight gain, abnormal body temperature sensation.
RARE
  • Damage to small blood vessels (thrombotic microangiopathy), which can cause severe kidney failure, extreme tiredness, yellowing of skin/eyes, and unusual bruising or bleeding.
  • Changes in blood clotting, decrease in all blood cell types
  • Dehydration
  • Low blood protein or sugar, high blood phosphate
  • Deep unconsciousness (coma), brain bleeding, stroke, paralysis, brain disorders, speech and language problems, memory problems
  • Clouding of the eye lens (cataracts)
  • Impaired hearing
  • Irregular heartbeat, cardiac arrest, heart failure, heart muscle disease, enlarged heart muscle, rapid heartbeat, abnormal ECG readings.
  • Blood clot in a limb vessel, shock
  • Breathing difficulties, respiratory diseases, asthma
  • Bowel blockage, increased blood amylase, acid reflux, slowed stomach emptying
  • Skin inflammation, burning sensation on skin from sun exposure
  • Joint problems
  • Lack of urination, painful periods and menstrual disorders
  • Multi-organ failure, flu-like symptoms, increased sensitivity to hot/cold, chest pressure, nervousness or unusual feeling, increased blood lactate dehydrogenase, weight loss.
  • A severe blood disorder (thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura) causing fever, pinpoint bruises, extreme tiredness, confusion, yellow skin/eyes, kidney failure, vision loss, and seizures.
  • Severe skin reaction (toxic epidermal necrolysis) with widespread blistering, peeling skin, and red, swollen areas.
  • Blindness
  • Small bleeding spots under the skin
  • Increased muscle tension
  • Deafness
  • Fluid buildup around the heart
  • Sudden shortness of breath
  • Cysts in the pancreas
  • Liver blood flow problems
  • Increased hair growth
  • Thirst, falls, chest tightness, reduced mobility, sores
  • Serious skin reaction (Stevens-Johnson syndrome) with severe widespread skin pain, facial swelling, blisters on skin, mouth, eyes, genitals, hives, swollen tongue, and peeling skin.
  • Abnormal heart rhythm (Torsades de pointes) with changes in heart rate, chest pain, fainting, dizziness, nausea, palpitations, and breathing difficulties.
  • Muscle weakness
  • Abnormal heart ultrasound (echocardiogram) results
  • Liver failure, narrowing of bile ducts
  • Painful urination with blood in urine
  • Increased fatty tissue

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Adport if you are allergic to tacrolimus or any other ingredients, or to macrolide antibiotics (e.g., erythromycin, clarithromycin).
  • You must take Adport every day to prevent organ rejection and have regular check-ups with your doctor.
  • Your doctor will order regular tests (blood, urine, heart, vision, nerve tests) to ensure you are on the correct dose.
  • Avoid St. John's Wort and other herbal remedies, as well as grapefruit and grapefruit juice, as they can affect how Adport works.
  • Inform your doctor if you have liver problems, as this may affect your Adport dose.

  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe stomach pain with chills, fever, nausea, or vomiting.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diarrhea lasting more than one day, as your Adport dose might need to be adjusted.
  • Inform your doctor if you have changes in your heart's electrical activity (prolonged QT interval).
  • Protect your skin from sun and UV light with clothing and high-SPF sunscreen, as Adport increases your risk of skin cancer.
  • Always tell your doctor if you need a vaccination while taking Adport.
  • Adport may increase the risk of certain cancers (lymphoproliferative disorders); discuss this with your doctor.
  • Report fever, bruising, confusion, yellow skin/eyes, reduced urination, vision loss, or seizures to your doctor immediately, as these can be signs of serious blood vessel damage. The risk increases if taken with sirolimus or everolimus.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel dizzy, sleepy, or have blurred vision after taking Adport, especially if consumed with alcohol.
  • Do not breastfeed while taking Adport, as it passes into breast milk.
  • Always tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, including herbal remedies and over-the-counter drugs, as they can interact with Adport.
  • Do not take Adport with ciclosporin.
  • Inform your doctor if you are taking potassium supplements, diuretics that save potassium, certain pain relievers, blood thinners, or diabetes medicines, as they can affect your potassium levels or interact with Adport.
