How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you your daily dose, usually starting at 20 or 30 mg. It might be increased later, up to a maximum of 70 mg daily.

Method

Take one capsule every morning, with or without food. You can swallow the capsule whole with water, or open it and mix the contents with yogurt, water, or orange juice. Drink or eat the mixture right away.

The maximum daily dose is 70 mg.

  • Unusual excitement, hyperactivity, or lack of inhibition (mania)
  • Allergic reaction (hypersensitivity)
  • Fever
  • Unusual talkativeness
  • Depression, anxiety, sadness, or unease (dysphoria)
  • Unusual feeling of well-being or excitement (euphoria)
  • Compulsive skin picking
  • Unusual drowsiness
  • Itching, rash, or red, itchy raised rash (hives)
  • Blurred vision
  • Metallic taste or altered sense of taste
  • Fainting
  • Nosebleed
  • Severe allergic reaction with sudden drop in blood pressure, difficulty breathing, and hives/itching (anaphylactic reaction)
  • Seeing, feeling, or hearing things that are not real (hallucinations), paranoia, and delusions (psychotic episodes)
  • Worsening of Tourette's syndrome
  • Seizures (convulsions)
  • Abnormal heart rhythm, life-threatening irregular heartbeat
  • Allergic liver damage, with yellowing of eyes and/or skin (eosinophilic hepatitis)
  • Skin swelling (angioedema) or severe blistering rash (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Shortness of breath or swollen legs (signs of heart muscle disease)
  • Excessive dilation of pupils
  • Aggressiveness
  • Poor circulation causing numbness and paleness in fingers and toes (Raynaud's phenomenon)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Adixemin or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not take if you are currently taking or have taken a specific type of antidepressant (MAOI) in the last two weeks.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had heart problems (like a heart attack or irregular heartbeat) or if you feel your heart beating fast or unevenly while taking this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure or blocked blood vessels.
  • Tell your doctor if you have high pressure in your eyes (glaucoma).
