How to Use

Dosage

The recommended starting dose is 30 mg, but your doctor might start you on 20 mg and can increase it later.

Method

Take Adixemin in the morning before breakfast, with or without food. You can swallow the capsule whole with water, or open it and mix its contents with soft food (like yogurt), water, or orange juice. Eat/drink the mixture right away and do not store it.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 70 mg.

RARE
  • Unusual excitement, hyperactivity, or mania
  • Allergic reaction
  • Fever
  • Unusual talkativeness
  • Depression, anxiety, low mood, or unease (dysphoria)
  • Unusual feeling of well-being or excitement (euphoria)
  • Compulsive skin picking
  • Unusual drowsiness
  • Itching, rash, or hives (red, itchy raised rash)
  • Blurred vision
  • Metallic taste or taste disturbance
  • Fainting
  • Nosebleed
  • Severe allergic reaction with sudden blood pressure drop, breathing difficulties, hives/itching (anaphylactic reaction)
  • Seeing, feeling, or hearing things that are not there (hallucinations), paranoia, or delusions (psychotic episodes)
  • Seizures
  • Abnormal or life-threatening heart rhythm
  • Allergic liver damage, jaundice (yellowing of eyes and/or skin)
  • Skin swelling (angioedema) or severe blistering rash (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Shortness of breath or swollen legs (signs of heart muscle disease)
  • Excessive pupil dilation
  • Poor circulation in fingers/toes (Raynaud's phenomenon)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Adixemin or similar medicines, or if you have severe heart problems, very high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, glaucoma, or if you have taken MAOI medicines for depression in the last two weeks.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have a history of drug abuse, kidney problems, seizures, tics, a stroke, or mental health issues. Adixemin can worsen these conditions.
  • Misusing Adixemin can lead to unusual behavior or dependence. Do not share this medicine with others.
  • This medicine can cause heart rhythm problems. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience palpitations or an irregular heartbeat.
