How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 1.5 mg daily for kidney and heart transplants, and 2.0 mg daily for liver transplants. This dose is typically split into two doses, one in the morning and one in the evening.

Method

Take Aderolio by mouth. Do not crush the tablets; swallow them whole with a glass of water. Take your first dose as soon as possible after a kidney or heart transplant, and about four weeks after a liver transplant. Take the tablets with other specific medicines as advised by your doctor.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose based on your condition and blood test results.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Infections (viral, bacterial, fungal, respiratory, urinary tract)
  • Blood changes (low red blood cells, low white blood cells, low platelets)
  • High fats or sugar in blood (new diabetes)
  • Low potassium
  • Anxiety, trouble sleeping, headache
  • Fluid around heart, high blood pressure, blood clots in veins
  • Fluid in lungs/chest, cough, shortness of breath
  • Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain
  • General body pain, fever, swelling, abnormal wound healing
RARE
  • Serious infections (blood poisoning, wound infection)
  • Cancers (new or worsening, skin, lymph node)
  • Kidney damage or blood clots in kidney vessels
  • Red blood cell breakdown
  • Low red blood cells or platelets
  • Fast heart rate
  • Nosebleeds
  • Bleeding problems, cysts with lymph fluid
  • Mouth or throat pain, pancreatitis, mouth ulcers
  • Acne, hives, allergic swelling (face/throat), skin rashes (including severe)
  • Joint and muscle pain
  • Protein in urine, kidney problems, impotence
  • Menstrual changes (missing or heavy periods), low testosterone, ovarian cysts
  • Abnormal liver tests, liver inflammation, yellow skin/eyes (jaundice)
  • Hernia near surgery site
  • Abnormal protein in lungs (persistent dry cough, fatigue, breathing issues)
  • Swelling, pain, or limited movement in body parts due to lymphatic fluid buildup (lymphedema)
  • Low blood iron

Important Warnings

  • Aderolio can weaken your body's ability to fight infections. If you get a fever, feel sick, or have lasting symptoms like cough or painful urination, contact your doctor.
  • Contact your doctor right away if you feel confused, have trouble speaking, lose your memory, get a headache, have vision changes, or seizures. These can be signs of a rare but serious brain condition.
  • If you recently had surgery or have a wound that isn't healing, Aderolio might make wound healing problems more likely.
  • Medicines like Aderolio can increase your risk of getting certain cancers, especially skin and lymph node cancers. Limit sun exposure and use sunscreen with a high SPF.
  • Your doctor will regularly check your kidney function, blood fats, blood sugar, and protein in your urine.

  • If you have or have had liver problems, tell your doctor. Your Aderolio dose might need to be changed.
  • If you have breathing issues like a cough, trouble breathing, or wheezing, tell your doctor. They will decide how to continue your treatment.
  • Aderolio can lower sperm production in men, which can affect the ability to have children. This usually goes back to normal after stopping the medicine. Discuss this with your doctor if you plan to have children.
  • Do not take Aderolio if you are pregnant unless your doctor says it's absolutely necessary. Women who can become pregnant must use effective birth control during treatment and for 8 weeks after. Do not breastfeed while taking Aderolio.
