How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 1.5 mg per day for kidney and heart transplants, and 2.0 mg per day for liver transplants, split into a morning and evening dose.

Method

Take the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not crush them.

Important

Your doctor will decide the maximum daily dose for your individual needs.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Infections (viral, bacterial, and fungal)
  • Lower respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia
  • Upper respiratory tract infections, such as sore throat and common cold
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Anemia (lack of red blood cells)
  • Low white blood cell count (increased infection risk) and low platelet count (bleeding or bruising)
  • High blood fat levels (cholesterol and triglycerides)
  • New diabetes (high blood sugar)
  • Low potassium levels in blood
  • Anxiety
  • Difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
  • Headache
  • Fluid buildup around the heart, which can make it harder for the heart to pump blood
  • High blood pressure
  • Blood clots in veins
  • Fluid buildup in the lungs or chest cavity, which can cause shortness of breath
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal pain

  • Hives and other allergic reactions, such as swelling of the face or throat

  • Swelling, feeling of heaviness or tightness, pain, limited movement (lymphedema)
  • Low iron levels in blood

Important Warnings

  • Aderolio weakens your immune system, which can increase your risk of infections. If you get a fever or other signs of infection, contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you experience confusion, speech problems, memory loss, headache, vision problems, or seizures, seek immediate medical attention as these could be signs of a serious brain condition.
  • Aderolio can make wound healing more difficult if you've recently had surgery or have wounds.
  • Aderolio can increase your risk of cancer, especially skin and lymph node cancers. Protect your skin from the sun and avoid UV light.
  • Your doctor will regularly check your kidney function, blood fat and sugar levels, and protein in your urine.

  • If you have liver problems or a history of liver disease, tell your doctor, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • If you have a cough, shortness of breath, or wheezing, tell your doctor.
  • Aderolio may reduce male fertility, but this effect is usually reversible after treatment stops.
  • Do not use Aderolio if you are allergic to everolimus, sirolimus, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use Aderolio if you are pregnant unless your doctor considers it absolutely necessary. If you can become pregnant, use effective contraception during treatment and for 8 weeks after. Do not breastfeed while taking Aderolio.
  • Do not drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruit with Aderolio, as they can affect how the medicine works.
  • Aderolio contains lactose. If you have a sugar intolerance, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
