Addex-Potassium Chloride is a medicine used to treat or prevent low potassium levels in adults and children, often given during IV fluid treatment or nutrition.
Your doctor will decide your exact dose. For adults, typical doses range from 40 to 200 mmol of potassium per day, depending on your needs. For children under 10 kg, the usual dose is 2 mmol per kg body weight per day, up to 4 mmol per kg for severe cases.
This medicine is given as a drip into a vein (intravenously) by a doctor or nurse. It must always be diluted before use.
The infusion rate should not exceed 20 mmol of potassium per hour for adults. For children with severe low potassium, the maximum is 4 mmol per kg body weight per day.
