How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose for adults is 20 mg once a day, which is reached gradually over 4 weeks following a specific schedule.

Method

Take the tablets by mouth once a day with water. You can take them with or without food. Try to take them at the same time each day.

  • Depression, suicidal thoughts (reported in patients with Alzheimer's disease treated with Adaxor)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Adaxor if you are allergic to memantine hydrochloride or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had epileptic seizures.
  • Inform your doctor if you recently had a heart attack, or if you have heart failure or high blood pressure that is not controlled.
  • If you have kidney problems, your doctor will closely monitor you and may adjust your dose.
  • Avoid taking Adaxor with medicines containing amantadine (for Parkinson's), ketamine (an anesthetic), or dextromethorphan (for cough).

  • Adaxor contains lactose. If your doctor has told you that you cannot tolerate certain sugars, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
  • Adaxor is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive or use machines. Your doctor will advise if it's safe for you.
