The Act-HIB vaccine protects babies and children from severe infections caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b bacteria, such as meningitis.
The dosage varies based on the child's age; infants under 6 months receive 3 doses plus a booster, those 6–12 months receive 2 doses plus a booster, and children aged 1–5 years receive one dose. Discuss with your doctor or nurse for the correct schedule.
The vaccine is usually given as an injection into a muscle, often in the thigh for babies and the upper arm for older children. It can also be given under the skin.
This is a vaccine given as a single dose at each visit, as part of a vaccination series.
