How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is 1000 mg (two tablets) once a day.

Method

Take this medicine by mouth, on an empty stomach. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Take at least two hours after eating, and do not eat anything for at least one hour after taking the medicine. Do not crush the tablets.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 1000 mg once a day.

  • High blood fat levels
  • Chest pain, irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation), heart failure, fast heart rate

  • Blood in urine
  • Rash
  • Adrenal gland problems (related to fluid and salt balance)
  • Abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia)
  • Muscle weakness and/or muscle pain
  • Lung irritation (allergic alveolitis)
  • Acute liver failure
  • Heart attack, ECG changes (QT prolongation)
  • Severe allergic reactions with difficulty swallowing or breathing, swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat, or itchy rash

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to abiraterone acetate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • This medicine is not for women, especially if you are pregnant. Pregnant or potentially pregnant women should wear gloves when handling the tablets. This medicine can harm an unborn baby.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver damage.
  • Do not take this medicine with radium-223 (Ra-223) as it may increase the risk of bone fractures or death.
  • Stop taking Abiraterone Glenmark and seek immediate medical attention if you experience muscle weakness, muscle twitching, or palpitations, as these can be signs of low potassium levels in your blood.

  • Seek immediate medical attention if your skin or eyes turn yellow, your urine becomes dark, or you have severe nausea or vomiting, as these can be signs of liver problems that can rarely lead to death.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have liver problems.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have high blood pressure, heart failure, or low potassium levels in your blood, as low potassium can increase the risk of heart rhythm problems.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have had other heart or blood vessel problems.
  • Talk to your doctor if your heartbeat is irregular or fast.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have shortness of breath.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have gained weight quickly.
  • Talk to your doctor if your feet, ankles, or legs are swollen.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have previously used a medicine called ketoconazole for prostate cancer.
  • Talk to your doctor about the need to take prednisone or prednisolone with this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor about possible effects on your bones.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have high blood sugar.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines you are taking, including over-the-counter medicines and herbal remedies, as this medicine can affect their efficacy or cause side effects.
  • Do not take this medicine with food, as it can increase the absorption of the medicine and cause side effects.
  • If you have sex with a woman who can get pregnant, use a condom and another effective birth control method. If you have sex with a pregnant woman, use a condom to protect the fetus.
