How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the typical dose is 2 tablets twice a day, or 1 tablet 3-4 times a day for severe infections. Your doctor will decide the right dose for you.

Method

Take tablets just before a meal. Spread the doses evenly throughout the day, for example, at 8 AM and 8 PM if taking twice daily.

Important

The maximum daily dose should not exceed 4 tablets.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Stomach problems like nausea, stomach pain, and diarrhea
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas, causing severe abdominal and back pain)
  • Loss of appetite
  • Inflammation of a vein, often in the legs, with swelling due to a blood clot
RARE
  • Temporary hearing loss, especially with high doses or kidney problems
  • Mild skin reactions
  • Severe skin rashes, including blistering and peeling skin (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Changes in heart rhythm visible on an ECG (QTc prolongation)
  • Hives (itchy rash)
  • Irritability in infants
  • Worsening of myasthenia gravis (an autoimmune disease causing muscle weakness)
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Anaphylactic reaction (a severe allergic reaction, often with swelling and breathing difficulties)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to erythromycin, other macrolide antibiotics, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if your blood potassium or magnesium levels are unusually low.
  • Do not take this medicine if you or a family member have a history of certain heart rhythm problems (like long QT syndrome).
  • Stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you experience swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, hives, or trouble breathing. These could be signs of a serious allergic reaction.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience severe or prolonged diarrhea, as it could be a sign of a bacterial infection.

  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, especially those that can cause heart rhythm problems or statins (medicines for high cholesterol) as they can cause muscle weakness.
